Special Session: Physics-Informed and Data-Driven Wind Power Forecasting and Turbine Awareness
This Special Session brings together recent advances in wind power forecasting that integrate data-driven learning, physics-informed modeling, and turbine-condition-aware prediction. It welcomes methodological and applied contributions covering forecasting horizons from minute-ahead to day-ahead, including deterministic and probabilistic forecasting, uncertainty quantification, and robust prediction under nonstationary weather conditions and evolving turbine operating regimes. Particular emphasis is placed on hybrid physics–AI approaches that address practical needs in wind farm operation, electricity market participation, and grid integration, especially studies that explicitly account for turbine-level states such as curtailment, derating, faults, icing, and maintenance events.
Suggested Topics (including but not limited to):
- Ultra-short-term, short-term, and day-ahead wind power forecasting
- Deterministic and probabilistic forecasting methods
- Uncertainty quantification and prediction interval calibration
- Physics-informed and hybrid physics–AI models for wind power forecasting
- Deep learning-based models for wind power forecasting
- Foundation models and large-model-based approaches for wind power forecasting
- Multi-source data fusion using SCADA, numerical weather prediction, and meteorological observations
- Turbine-condition-aware forecasting considering curtailment, derating, faults, icing, and maintenance events
- Robust forecasting under non-stationarity, concept drift, and regime shifts
- Transfer learning, domain adaptation, and cross-site generalization
- Benchmarking, reproducible evaluation, and forecasting performance metrics
- Operational applications in dispatch, market participation, wind farm operation, and grid integration
